Troubleshooting

Quick fixes for common issues.

Make sure you're using the Claudaway iOS app's built-in scanner, not the regular camera app. The QR contains a custom ccconnect:// scheme that only Claudaway understands. If the QR looks blurry, try moving your phone closer or increasing the size of the Mac app window.

This shouldn't happen — Claudaway uses a Cloudflare tunnel so your phone can reach your Mac from anywhere. If the connection drops, the app auto-reconnects within a few seconds. If it doesn't, tap the reconnect button in the iOS app or click the menu bar icon on your Mac to check the server status.

The tunnel uses Cloudflare's free quick tunnels. Possible causes: (1) No internet connection on your Mac. (2) Orphaned cloudflared processes from a previous run — the Mac app tries to kill these automatically, but you can run pkill -f cloudflared in Terminal if needed. (3) Cloudflare's service is temporarily down (rare). Try quitting and reopening the Claudaway Mac app.

Since Claudaway is distributed outside the Mac App Store, macOS may block it on first launch. Right-click (or Control-click) the app in Applications, then click Open, and confirm in the dialog. You only need to do this once.

Claude Code detects existing sessions. If you had a previous session, you can resume it from the Claudaway iOS app. Alternatively, swipe left on the session in the app to close it and start a new one.

Tap the input bar at the bottom of the screen. If the keyboard still doesn't appear, try swiping down from the top to dismiss any overlays, then tap the input bar again. On some iOS versions, rotating the device and rotating back can fix stuck keyboards.

Mac app: Claudaway checks for updates automatically on launch. When an update is available, you'll see a notification. You can also re-download the latest version from the download page. iOS app: Update through the App Store as usual.

Make sure Claudaway is running — check Activity Monitor for "Claudaway". If it's running but the icon isn't visible, your menu bar might be too crowded. Try closing other menu bar apps or using a wider screen resolution. You can also quit and reopen the app.
